Martha T Berry Courtyard Renovation Project – Ongoing

๐ŸŒŸINTRODUCING the MARTHA T. BERRY COURTYARD RENOVATION PROJECT โœจ
ย
๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸThis project is an endeavor to create not one, but two beautiful, practical, and reimagined courtyards for the award-winning Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility right here in Mount Clemens, MI.
ย
๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸAs a member of the Mount Clemens Beautification Committee, we have engaged with the Detroit Collaborative Design Center (DCDC) and the Martha T. Berry Foundation to reimagine a partnership that began in 2007 with the Beautification Commission and the MSU Master Gardener program. The initial project provided garden boxes for resident use and landscaping beautification.
ย
๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸIt’s 2026 now and time to take it to another level!
ย
๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ Using resident input, the Director of Landscape and Urban Design from the Detroit Collaborative Design Center (UD Mercy) has submitted a starting description of exciting renovation ideas for EACH courtyard area. The vision is to develop and expand BOTH courtyards in a multi-phase development process.
ย
๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸResident ideas for the courtyards have included incorporating wheelchair accessible garden boxes, adding water features, family seating, butterfly gardens, growing food for the MTB kitchen, herbs for a sensory garden, and much more. What will the final result be? That remains to be seen. But however it presents itself, we have an award winning, internationally known landscape architect on board – AND the support of the amazing staff at the award-winning Martha T. Berry facility.

I’m very proud to chair this project and would love to have your support in the form of any donation you can make.
